Recent changes at the state and federal level affect Texas workers and those in the workers compensation system.


Texas lifts suspension of government code


In December of 2022 the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers Compensation' announced changes to the government code for covid-19 measures. 


This effects Texas government code Sections 607.002(1) and (2).  This covered reimbursement to public safety members exposed to contagious diseases.  Effective December 21st, 2022 the code is now in effect.


Permanent OSHA standards for healthcare workers


Standards for covid-19 exposure originally put in place as temporary measures by OSHA at the start of the pandemic will soon be made a final rule.  The temporary standard for medical facilities first put in place, June 2021 is now being submitted for a final rule change.  The submitted rule from OSHA is still under review and not been released to the public.
